Bandsaw

During my beginning years of metalworking I cut materials by hand with a hacksaw.  As my projects grew larger I eventually reached the point where sawing by hand was beyond my capabilities. 

At that point I purchased a bandsaw, made in Taiwan, model TN-100A.  One feature of this machine that attracted me was its light weight, 22 Kg (48.4 pounds), and its small size.  It is mostly made from aluminum parts, is rugged, and has served me well.  Its maximum cutting diameter is 100 mm. 

Article Number 39 shows a Bandsaw Adapter , a handy way to hold smaller items during cutting. 

1. A block (25 mm x 100 mm) of mild steel being cut in 2 minutes. 

Cutting speed is 54 m/sec, fixed. 

Cutting waste is gathered in a box located on the right side. 
2.  The downward force of the blade is adjustable via a big spring located in the round, black drum. 

　

3. Control levels are provided for blade guiding and use during blade exchange.  

The chain fixes the main body during transport.

　
4.  Angles to 45 degrees can be cut; however, most of my cuts are at 90 degrees. 

5. Bandsaw in vertical position.

6. Cover removed, as would be for  changing the blade.
