INDEX TABLE

This project adds an index table to my shop's tooling. The base is mild steel, 125 mm square,  and fits my milling machine's t-slots.  The rotating table is cast iron, of diameter 100 mm, and can be locked in position.

The mechanism is simple, consisting of a worm wheel, a worm gear, two bearings and a dial shaft.

A feature of this design is the interchangeability of the T-slotted table with chucks (3-jaw and 4-jaw) from my lathe.  A changeover can be accomplished without a centering procedure.  The boss of the index table matches my chucks, and of course, your size may differ.
